JKF were awarded this contract for major regeneration works in Macrosty Park. After entering into the pre-selection stage for this project in December 2009, JKF were informed in early 2010 that they had been shortlisted to undertake the works entailed within this high profile contract. JKF went onto successfully tender for the works and recieved notification in May to commence works on site.

Elements of Work

 

Refurbishing the existing 1925 park pavilion as a multi-functional community facility to include construction of a 4m x 6.5m extension containing a kitchen and toilets; removal of internal walls; reroofing entire building; insulating roof and walls and electrical wiring.

Construction of a 16M2 building to contain a semi automated toilet unit, services and store room with externally accessed bin store. Converting existing toilet into a secure store.

The restoration of the park’s Edwardian bandstand including replacement of missing elements; in situ treatment and repainting of the cast iron structure and installation of an electrical supply Works to boundary railings and gates The reintroduction of water flow to the park section of Lade will include excavating silt from lade channel, constructing a regulating chamber at the intake sluce, 3No concrete weir structures; Localised regrading of lade banks and construction of an earth dam with 300mm diameter piped system below car park to return water to Turret Burn.

Installation of an extensive range of play equipment including water play items with associated safer surfacing.

Construction of an 18M span footbridge across the Turret Burn and 6M span footbridge across the Lade. Both bridges will be consist of steel beams with timber deck and handrails.

Improvements to existing footpaths with new path and step construction requiring considerable earthworks due to the topography of the site. Construction of 60 bay car park over existing smaller car park. Removal of existing tennis courts and formation of terraces by the pavilion. Tree felling and removal of roots. Formation of ornamental garden areas; Tree and shrub planting; turfing and grass seeding works. Installation of site furniture.

 



Falkirk Town Centre Regeneration

JKF were awarded this contract for works in Falkirk Town Centre.The works will involve steetscape civil engineering and landscaping.

Elements of Work

 

A Seating Area will be constructed, including steps, paving and the construction of a cobbled retaining wall. Site Furniture will be installed, including timber benches, Litter Bins, and metal Bollards. The Seating Area will include lighting to be fitted and also signage.

Upon surfacing the car park will require road markings to show parking spaces, as well as signage to show where disabled bays have been assigned. Many of the roads in the project require extensive resurfacing and repairwork as well as reinstating road markings.

3 Bus Shelters are to be installed, with accompanying electrical works for lighting. Many parts of the site will also require drainage channels and manholes. Site wide electrical & utility works will be required such as phone lines, power cables, water and gas pipes. Street lighting and CCTV systems will also be installed.

There will also be soft landscaping work required, including topsoil, seeding & turfing, and the planting of hedges and trees.

An existing historic gate will be refurbished, and fencing manufactured to match, in addition to metal post & wire fencing installation.

 



Armadale & Whitburn Town Centres

JKF successfully tendered for these works, which will be taking place along Armadale and Whitburn Town Centres.

Elements of Work

 

The works will firstly require elements of site clearance. Vegetation and tree removal will be completed. Existing site furniture including concrete seats and litter bins will need removed. There will also be demolition works, including the removal of masonry walls and concrete steps with accompanying handrail. At the Armadale site there is also a statue that will be removed, refurbished & reinstated.

Drainage will be required at both sites, including new pipes and ducts, chambers , gullies & covers. The original disused sewers and drain will need to be removed.

Grey granite kerbs will be required. New steps and handrails will be constructed. Road lighting columns will be erected. Blockwork retaining walls with granite cladding will be constructed for each site.

General soft landscaping incorporating shrub and tree planting works will complete this prestigeous award.
